2018 festival summary

  • 43 Chainsaw Carvers were at the festival this year.
  • They donated 130 Carvings for the Auction.
  • 129 people registered for the Auction.
  • The Auction total was $34,170.00, $1,080 less than last year.  Half $17,010.00 minus three items auctioned by the club went to the carvers.  The average price per carving was about $268, $47 less than last year.
  • The Confluence Lions Club donated $5,000.00 from the Festival, to the Somerset County Blind Association.  The Confluence Lions Club has donated over $135,300 to the Somerset County Blind Association from the past 15 Festivals.
  • Corey Lancaster won First Place with top Auction Piece of $2,800.  Corey won $700 and our First Place Auction Trophy.
  • Douglas Ryan was second with $1,700.  Doug won $300 and our Second Place Auction Trophy.
  • Brooks Abeln was third with $1100.  Brooks won $200 and our Third Place Auction Trophy.
  • Corry Lancaster also won for the “Peoples Choice” voting.  Corry won $200.00 and our People’s Choice Trophy.
  • Kevin Treat won First Place for his Bear Seesaw in the Sponsor Carving judging.  Kevin won a Husqvarna Chainsaw and our First Place Sponsor Carving Trophy.
  • Jeffrey Postma’s Bear in Log Carving was second and received our Second Place Sponsor Carving Trophy.
  • Brooks Abeln’s Eagle was third and received our Third Place Sponsor Carving Trophy.
  • Every carver that attended the Banquet on Thursday night received a door prize.  There were two Husqvarna Chainsaw available, shirts and hats along with other items.
  • Pat Holbert was chosen to do the Addison Park Carving for 2018.  The Club purchase Pat’s Indian holding an eagle and installed it in the Park.  The carving is on permanent display in the Park along with the eleven previous carvings.
  • The 43 carver split a total of $27,162 from the Auction, prize money, sponsorships, Husqvarna chain saws, gifts and food.  This does not include individual sales.
