Food available for purchase

Each carver is asked to donate one or more carvings to be auctioned off to the highest bidder.  The auction is held on Saturday June 14th at 3:00 p.m.  Proceeds from the auction benefits the Somerset County Blind Center.… an organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for the blind and visually impaired; to provide employment services for disabled workers and to prevent blindness in the general population. The auction provides the opportunity for you to purchase an original work of art.  Don't miss the opportunity to own this "extreme" art.

The festival is held in Addison, PA located on the National Road within the National Road Heritage Corridor in southern Somerset County.    There are many nearby attractions that you may want to visit while you are here including the original historic Petersburg Toll House, Frederick Augustine House & Visitor Center, the Petersburg-Addison Museum, the Humberson one-room schoolhouse and the Youghiogheny Lake.

Many of the professional carvers at the festival will be participating in the 2008 ECHO Carving Series Competition at our Festival.  Carvers will have 23 hours, starting on Tuesday morning, to produce a carving that conforms to the Theme of “Animals of Prey along the National Road”.  The carvings will be judged by five judges.  The 1st and 2nd place winners will advance to ECHO Carving Series Championship at the International Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque New Mexico on October 4th and 5th.  Six other winners will come from three other competitions in Reedsport, OR, Ocean Shores, WA and Oshkosh, WI.  The ECHO Carving Series Championship is a showcase competition between eight award winning chainsaw sculptors for the ECHO Cup and cash prizes.
